Reading Flash Fiction
Flash Fiction Institute
In this class, we will analyze and appreciate exemplary flash fiction. We will read as writers and take apart three stories to see what makes them work, looking at various elements such as hook, plot, voice, and structure. We’ll also explore how each flash plays with absence and depends on the reader to help create the story. Writers will annotate assigned stories before class, in preparation for our rich, fruitful discussion.
